A different way into the story.
On-device narration gives you another way to spend time with an EPUB, one passage at a time.

Sometimes you want to read. Sometimes you want someone to read to you. A different pace can bring a sentence into focus, or give you another way to spend time with a chapter.
Rise’s EPUB narration gives you that change of pace. Install an English voice, open a book, and listen to a passage while the highlighted sentence helps you follow the page.
A voice on your device.
The initial voice download needs an internet connection. Once installed, the voice generates speech locally on your device. Audio is prepared and cached there, too.
This is generated narration of your EPUB text. It’s a different experience from a professionally performed audiobook, and the current voice installation is English only.
Leave room for curiosity.
On supported Apple Intelligence devices, you can interrupt narration with a spoken question. Rise uses nearby excerpts to offer a brief answer and can return to the passage afterward.
The question experience needs available system models and explicit microphone and speech permissions. It doesn’t search the whole book or look facts up on the web. If that support isn’t available, narration remains a separate part of the reader.
Keep the story close.
Read and listen in the same app. Follow the highlighted sentence on the page, pause when you want to, and return to the story at your own pace.
Narration is a comfortable companion to reading. Explore how narration fits into Rise.
